On December 31, 2025, the Promotional Meeting on the Construction of Yancheng Green and Low-Carbon Development Demonstration Zone was held in Nanjing. The meeting aimed to thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization, earnestly implement the opinions of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government on supporting Yancheng in building a green and low-carbon development demonstration zone, accelerate the promotion of cooperation in co-construction between provincial departments and the city, and strive to create a new situation in advancing green and low-carbon transformation. Yan Hanping, Mayor of Yancheng, and Ji Ming, Deputy Director General of the Jiangsu Provincial Development and Reform Commission, attended and delivered speeches.

In his speech, Yan Hanping first expressed gratitude to the provincial departments for their support for the construction of Yancheng's Green and Low-Carbon Development Demonstration Zone over the past three years. He stated that in recent years, under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and with the strong leadership of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government as well as the support of the provincial departments, Yancheng has promoted the construction of both a national carbon peaking pilot city and a green and low-carbon development demonstration zone in an integrated manner, achieving remarkable results in the new practice of Chinese modernization in Yancheng. The 15th Five-Year Plan period is a critical five-year for achieving the carbon peaking goal, the final stage for striving to reach carbon peaking before 2030, and a crucial period for making every effort to basically realize socialist modernization.

Ji Ming noted that Yancheng has adhered to ecological priority and green development, fully promoted the construction of the green and low-carbon development demonstration zone and the national carbon peaking pilot city, achieving excellent results that have been widely recognized. He hoped that Yancheng will continue to take the lead in advancing the "Dual Carbon" goals, strictly control the energy efficiency of newly launched projects, vigorously promote energy conservation and carbon reduction transformation of existing projects, strengthen the management of high energy-consuming and high-emission projects, and make contributions and take the lead in the province's development.
