The city of Yancheng, with a sea area of 18,900m2, a 50% share of Jiangsu Province, and a coastline of 583km, a 61% share of Jiangsu Province, is a big city of the sea. With the completion of 17 wharfs of 10,000 ton class at Yancheng Port, which features "one port four areas", the comprehensive capacity of the port has seen significant advancement. Moreover, the sustained improvement of the coastal logistic system serves as a solid basis for the development of maritime work equipment, seaport logistics and other coastal industries. While effectively protecting the diversity of coastal organisms, Yancheng City is Jiangsu's No. 1 in total output of marine fishery, which is a boon for developing the marine organism industry and marine medicine. In the years to come, we will take advantage of the marine organism industry and technology park, marine biomedicine industrial park, Jiangsu Marine Industry Research Institution and other platforms to make full efforts at boosting industrial development. The industries will include maritime work equipment manufacturing, marine biomedicine, marine organism food, marine biochemistry, marine bioenergy and sea water desalination, mariculture, and coastal tourism. Furthermore, we will build Yancheng City into a demonstration city for domestic sea water desalination and an industrial base of maritime work equipment. In the future, a golden coastal economy belt, downtown belt and scenic area belt will be added to Yancheng City.
