In 2021, NbS was written into the report of the Municipal Party Congress, and it was clearly proposed to “implement nature-based solutions and effectively strengthen the coordinated governance of mountains, rivers, forests, fields, lakes and grasses”. In the same year, at the NGO parallel forum of the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, Yancheng’s “NbS aimed at restoring bird habitats – the case of ecological restoration of the Yellow Sea Wetland Heritage Site in Yancheng”, stood out from 258 application cases from 26 countries around the world, and was selected as “Biodiversity 100+ Global Special Recommended Cases”.
