Yancheng’s Trade Surges to 125.13 Billion Yuan, Up 17.4% Year-on-Year

According to customs statistics, Yancheng’s total import and export value for goods in the first three quarters of this year reached 125.13 billion yuan, marking a year-on-year increase of 17.4%. This places the city sixth in the province for total trade volume and fourth for growth rate. Exports accounted for 78.57 billion yuan, while imports totaled 46.56 billion yuan, reflecting growth rates of 1.9% and 57.9% respectively, with import growth leading the province.

During this period, both general and processing trade saw positive growth, with a high level of activity among various business entities. General trade reached 83.18 billion yuan, up 9.6%, comprising two-thirds of the city’s total trade; processing trade stood at 22.76 billion yuan, a growth of 11.2%, representing nearly 20% of Yancheng’s foreign trade.

Yancheng exported 53.17 billion yuan in mechanical and electrical products, accounting for two-thirds of total exports. Notably, automobile exports reached 10.28 billion yuan, increasing 1.7 times, and auto parts exports grew nearly 90% to 4.21 billion yuan.

Additionally, the city’s “new three products”—lithium batteries, photovoltaic products, and electric vehicles—generated exports totaling 18.49 billion yuan, nearly a quarter of the city’s total exports. This included 8.47 billion yuan in lithium batteries, 9.25 billion yuan in photovoltaic products, and 750 million yuan in electric vehicles, with the latter experiencing a staggering growth of 28.9 times. Other notable exports included textile yarns and fabrics (3.67 billion yuan), basic organic chemicals (2.37 billion yuan), clothing and accessories (2.36 billion yuan), and plastic products (2.31 billion yuan), all showing varying degrees of growth.

On the import side, significant increases were observed in electronics, consumer goods, and bulk commodities. The electronic information sector imported 10.47 billion yuan, growing 2.9 times, while agricultural product imports reached 3.78 billion yuan, an increase of 8%, including 468,000 tons of soybeans, which grew by 15.1%. Moreover, iron ore imports surged to 4.66 billion yuan, more than doubling, with various other commodities like pulp, general machinery, edible vegetable oils, and sugar also experiencing notable growth.
